2015

The brief was to create a food or drink brand dedicated to being aware of helping others. This is achieved by improving health and wellbeing, reducing environmental impact, enhancing livelihoods and/or creating communities. The brand I created was Tead; a tea shop that serves custom made teas and encourages reading. The shop will sell a selection of second had books where the proceeds will be give to a charity that aid towards teaching children. The tea that will be served will be a combination of dried teas (green, black and herbal) and fresh herbs grown in the shop. I wanted the shop to have a relaxing feel to it by creating a comforting living room atmosphere however I also wanted the brand to be unique, possibly by using second hand furniture that has been enhanced or redesigned. The brand must follow the four main aims.

Improve health and well being: The tea will relax the drinker reducing stress and anxiety levels. Some teas like mint, fennel and thyme can improve digestion.

Reduce environmental impact: The packaging used should be recyclable and should not use any plastics. The tea bags should be reusable or biodegradable.

Enhance livelihoods: The company will donate to charity with their use of second hand book sales. They will also donate through tea sold.

Create communities: Through an encouragement of reading it will create and attract a particular audience of people who are interested in short tea breaks to relax. It will also increase education through working with charities for children.

After creating mood boards and being inspired by books I decided that the brand would be inspired by one of the most influential adventure books, Alice's adventures in Wonderland. This book is filled with adventure, possibilities and imagination which is something the brand should encourage.
